Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 9, 2023

Thank you for visiting the Women Gun Owners Association of America (WGOAA) website at https://www.wgoaa.org. We are committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of our website visitors. This privacy policy outlines the information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using our website, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

Who We Are

Our website address is https://www.wgoaa.org. We are the Women Gun Owners Association of America (WGOAA), an organization dedicated to supporting women gun owners and promoting responsible firearm ownership.

Information We Collect

We collect information from three sources: information you provide to us, information collected automatically, and information from other sources. Here’s a breakdown of the information we collect in each category:

Comments

When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, the visitor’s IP address, and the browser user agent string. This information helps us detect and prevent spam. An anonymized string created from the visitor’s email address (hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check if a profile picture is associated with the email address. The Gravatar service privacy policy can be found at: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once a comment is approved, the visitor’s profile picture is publicly visible alongside the comment.

Information You Provide to Us

We collect information directly from you when you provide it to us. This includes:

  • Basic account information: When you sign up for a WordPress.com account, we ask for your email address, password, and username.
  • Public profile information: If you have an account with us, we collect the information you provide for your public profile.
  • Payment and contact information: When you make purchases or earn revenue through our Services, we collect payment information to process transactions and contact you.
  • Business profile: Some of our products collect additional information to create a user or customer profile.
  • Content information: Information you provide in draft or published content.
  • Credentials: If you use our Services that require credentials for your self-hosted website, we may collect and store this information.
  • Communications with us: When you communicate with us through forms, email, phone, comments, or other means, we store copies of those communications.
  • Job applicant information: If you apply for a job with us, we collect information as part of the application process.

Information We Collect Automatically

We collect certain information automatically when you use our Services. This includes:

  • Log information: We collect standard log information that web browsers, mobile devices, and servers typically provide.
  • Transactional information: When you make a purchase or use our Services to buy from a third party, we collect transaction details.
  • Usage information: We collect information about your usage of our Services.
  • Location information: We may collect approximate location information based on your IP address.
  • Stored information: If you use our mobile apps, we may access information stored on your device.

Information We Collect from Other Sources

We may receive information about you from other sources, including:

  • Third-party login: If you create or log in to your WordPress.com account through another service, we receive associated login information.
  • Social sharing services: If you connect your account to a social media service through our Publicize feature, we receive information from that service.
  • Financial account info: If you purchase anything from us, we receive information relating to your Stripe or PayPal account.

How and Why We Use Information

We use the information we collect about you for the following purposes:

  • To provide our Services, including setting up and maintaining your account, hosting your website, processing payments, and verifying user information.
  • To ensure quality, maintain safety, and improve our Services by monitoring and analyzing usage patterns, developing new features, and understanding user behavior.
  • To place and manage ads in our advertising program, measure ad performance, and improve the effectiveness of our marketing.
  • To protect our Services, users, and the public by detecting and preventing security incidents, fighting spam, and complying with legal obligations.
  • To fix problems with our Services, including monitoring, debugging, repairing, and preventing issues.
  • To customize the user experience by personalizing notifications, recommendations, and content based on user preferences.
  • To communicate with you, including sending you emails, texts, or calls related to support, feedback, newsletters, promotions, and job applications.

We may also use information in an aggregated or de-identified format for research, analysis, and reporting purposes.

For detailed information on how we use cookies and other technologies for tracking, please refer to our Cookie Policy.

Who We Share Your Data With

We respect your privacy and do not share your information with third parties except for specific cases. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. Additionally, we may utilize marketing platforms such as Google, Meta, etc. to retarget you using pixel information. However, no personally identifiable information (PID) is shared with these third-party sources.

How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on our website (if any), we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time, except they cannot change their username. Website administrators also have access to and can edit this information.

Your Rights Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. However, this does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where We Send Your Data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service to ensure the security and integrity of our website.

Contact Us

If you have any questions or concerns about our privacy practices, please contact us at info@wgoaa.org.
