The Armed Female Academy
Instructor Collaboration
Teach Inside The Armed Female Academy
We collaborate with a select group of female firearms instructors, attorneys, and subject-matter experts who are aligned with our mission and capable of teaching at a national level.
The Armed Female Academy (AFA) is the official firearms education division of the Women Gun Owners Association of America (WGOAA). Our mission is to normalize the armed female in America by making high-quality firearms education accessible, relevant, and grounded in the real lives of women who carry.
This is not an open submission platform. It is a curated educational environment built for women—and taught by women—who understand the responsibility that comes with carrying a firearm.
Who The Armed Female Academy Is For
The Armed Female Academy exists to serve women who take preparedness seriously. Our audience includes thousands of women nationwide who are actively seeking education that reflects:
- ✦A woman's physical reality
- ✦A woman's mindset and decision-making process
- ✦The actual threats women are statistically most likely to face
- ✦The legal and moral weight of defensive force
Our members and live attendees are thoughtful, capable, and engaged. They are not looking for performance, hype, or intimidation—they are looking for clarity, competence, and instruction that holds up in real life.
If that is the audience you already serve—or aspire to serve—you may be a strong fit.
What Teaching Inside The Academy Looks Like
Instructors who teach inside the Armed Female Academy deliver virtual seminars designed to educate women at scale without sacrificing depth or integrity. These trainings are highly effective at:
- Showcasing your expertise to a national audience
- Increasing visibility for your business or practice
- Positioning you as a trusted authority in women's firearms education
- Creating long-term credibility through replay access inside the WGOAA membership portal
Each seminar is hosted live, professionally moderated, and supported by the WGOAA platform. Your moderator will assist with questions, introduction, giveaways, and chat monitoring. Replays are made available to members, extending the lifespan and impact of your instruction well beyond a single event.
Our Standards for Instructors
The Armed Female Academy is selective by design.
Instructors are considered based on:
- ✦Demonstrated expertise in their discipline
- ✦Professionalism and clarity of instruction
- ✦Poise & presence on camera
- ✦Ability to teach women from a woman's lived reality
- ✦Alignment with WGOAA's mission and values
- ✦Respect for the seriousness of defensive firearm use
- ✦WGOAA membership is required to be considered as a candidate
We are not interested in ego-driven instruction, internet absolutes, or content designed to shame women into doing it your way. We are here to educate, elevate, and inspire women as a credible educational institution, not a content marketplace.
Leadership & Curation
All Armed Female Academy instructors and topics are personally vetted by Amara Barnes, founder of WGOAA. Amara curates each training to ensure it:
- Serves women responsibly
- Reflects real-world application
- Contributes meaningfully to the broader mission of arming America's women
This hands-on approach is intentional and central to the integrity of the Academy.
Why Instructors Choose The Armed Female Academy
Instructors who collaborate with AFA value:
- Access to a highly engaged national audience of women
- A platform that respects expertise and nuance
- A professional, well-run virtual training environment
- Alignment with an organization redefining women's firearms education
For many instructors, teaching inside the Armed Female Academy becomes a cornerstone of their professional visibility within the women's firearms space.
Who Should Not Apply
The Armed Female Academy is not the right fit for everyone—and that's intentional. You should not apply to teach inside the Academy if:
- You are looking for a quick promotional opportunity rather than long-term credibility
- You have not yet developed the depth of experience required to teach beyond surface-level concepts
- You rely on shock value, intimidation, or internet controversy to build attention
- You're shy on camera or it makes you uncomfortable to speak publicly
- Your instruction centers on ego, performance, or proving dominance rather than developing skill
- You are uncomfortable teaching women from their lived reality instead of adapting them to male-centric frameworks
- You believe there is only one 'right' way to carry, train, or exist armed—and dismiss nuance
- You are unable or unwilling to discuss legal responsibility, restraint, and aftermath with seriousness
We collaborate with instructors who respect the weight of defensive force, understand the complexity of women's lives, and are capable of teaching at scale with clarity and professionalism.
For those it does align with, the impact is meaningful.
